About Access to Success
St. Landry Parish District Attorney's office operates the program Access to Success which is designed to prevent and/or reduce the use and abuse of alcohol, tobacco and other related drugs with at-risk youths 11-17 years of age. Enrichment activities designed for the development of the self-esteem of the child such as educational field trips, guest speakers and opportunities to explore social living skills are employed. At-risk children are exposed to positive alcohol-free, tobacco-free and drug-free alternatives. Other services provided: Community information to increase awareness: interactive presentations that provide prevention education; tutorial and homework assistance using appropriate computer software; enable effective decision making and conflict resolution training, peer refusal skills and positive self-esteem development through video presentations and group discussions.
