About Kingsboro Addiction Treatment Center

Kingsboro is licensed and operated by the New York Sate Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) and is accredited by the Commission for the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
The facility is a 70 bed inpatient addiction treatment setting for both males and females.
This beautiful six-story building is located in the borough of Brooklyn , New York .
The building is self-contained and provides complete treatment facilities.
Patient rooms are cheerfully decorated, and meals are provided in a contemporary dining room where the food is attractively prepared and served.
The recreation areas and the outdoor patio all play an important part in establishing a positive environment within which to begin the recovery process.


Criteria for Admission   
The individual appears to be in need of inpatient chemical dependency services.    
The individual appears not to be in need of a higher level of care.    
The individual is unable to participate in or comply with treatment outside of a 24 hour structured treatment setting based on one or more of the following:      
a living environment not conducive to recovery,       
physical or mental complications and co-morbidities requiring medical management,       
a lack of judgment, insights, and motivation such as to require 24 hour supervision.    
Final admission decisions are always made by the ATCs medical director in compliance with utilization review standards.    
Individual must reside in catchment area (county covered by ATC) listed in directory.    
The individual must be at least 18.
Under special circumstances, a person under 18 may be admitted.

Referral Process:
The Kingsboro Addiction Treatment Center does not maintain a waiting list. All referring agencies are advised to make an appointment as early in their patients treatment planning as possible. They take referrals one week in advance. Appointments are given based on planned discharges. Referrals are made by phone 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday thru Friday. The following program components are offered:
Medically Supervised Withdrawal Services New Information    Psycho-educational Groups    Medical Services    Structured Therapeutic Recreation    Physical and Psychiatric Evaluations    Addictions Counseling Group    Social Work Services    Nutrition Assessment    Special Issues Groups    Family Education/Information    Introduction to Self Help Resources    Gender Specific Treatment    Problem Gambling -- Individual and group counseling for those affected by problem gambling.

Clinical staff on site have specialized problem gambling training and/or credentials and are able to provide direct clinical services as both an individualized issue and as a co-occurring disorder.
Patients do not have to have a primary substance abuse diagnosis to be admitted for problem gambling treatment services.

Monolingual Spanish Speaking program -- provides Monolingual Rehabilitation treatment for up to 15 male patients.
They have a staff of Spanish speaking counselors for every shift.
All materials and groups are in Spanish and each patient is provided individualized care by a Spanish speaking counselor.
Each patient is introduced to 12 steps Spanish AA.
Aftercare referrals are provided upon treatment completion.    
All patients leave the ATC with a fully developed discharge plan which provides referrals to additional services that are needed.
