Tips on Choosing a Free Rehab Center in Houston, TX

  • Make sure the center is accredited. Accreditation means that the center has met certain standards of quality and patient care. You can find accredited rehab centers by visiting the websites of the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) or The Joint Commission (TJC).
  • Check the center's track record. How long has the center been in operation? What is its success rate? You can find this information by reading online reviews or by contacting the center directly.
  • Consider the center's treatment approach. Does the center offer a variety of treatment modalities, or does it focus on one approach? What is the center's philosophy on addiction treatment?
  • Find out what the center's aftercare program is like. Aftercare is essential to long-term recovery. Make sure the center you choose offers a comprehensive aftercare program.
  • Make sure the center is a good fit for you. Consider your individual needs and preferences when choosing a rehab center. For example, if you have a co-occurring mental health disorder, you'll need to find a center that offers dual diagnosis treatment.

Here are some additional tips:

  • Ask about the center's admission process. What documentation do you need to provide? Is there a waiting list?
  • Find out what the center's policies are on insurance and financial assistance. Will the center accept your insurance? Does the center offer financial assistance to patients who need it?
  • Visit the center in person, if possible. This will give you a chance to meet the staff, see the facilities, and get a feel for the center's atmosphere.
  • Talk to people who have been to the center. Ask them about their experiences and whether they would recommend the center to others.
Choosing a rehab center is an important decision. By following these tips, you can find a free rehab center in Houston, TX that is right for you.

Free Rehab Centers in Nearby Cities

Since many of our rehab centers are sliding scale, we have provided the Federal Poverty Guidelines below. Visit the Into Action Recovery Center Inc website listed above to see what the level is needed for free care based on your income from the sliding fee scale.

Federal Poverty Guidelines for 2024

Persons In Family Household Poverty Guideline Salary per year
1 $15,060
2 $20,440
3 $25,820
4 $31,200
5 $36,580
6 $41,960
7 $47,340
8 $52,720

*Alaska and Hawaii have different rates for HUD federal poverty guidelines.
These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get reduced or free treatment from some substance abuse centers, they use a sliding fee scale based on your income. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.

I’ve been homeless since the 23 of February. I have had some good sobriety periods...3 years and 9 months and 2 years and 3 months (last sober period was living at Oxford House-Castle Rock). I want to be sober again very badly. I’ve lost EVERYTHING and I am unemployed...no family and no resources currently. I know I will not make it this time without immediate help with my addiction. I need medically supervised detox. I’ve suffered from an alcohol related seizure while I was at LaHacenda for treatment in 2016.

I am a Heroin addict, I took Opioids (pain pills) for 14 years. 5 years ago I started using Heroin and meth which the meth is once in a blue moon but it's still scary bad, stopped using pain pills but only because the Heroin took their place, I have serious mental health conditions that being mixed with Heroin and meth be fatal with my severe anxiety, bipolar disorder I can't keep letting myself believe my own excuses of custody loss and loosing my parents being forcing me to turn to drugs there is NO EXCUSE THAT CAN JUSTIFY MY CHOICE TO USE DRUGS.
