About Carolinas Healthcare System Mercy Horizons

Carolinas HealthCare System has many treatment options and programs for those dealing with drug addiction or alcoholism.
Their inpatient treatment programs are for patients with more serious Substance Use problems who require intensive care 24 hours a day.
They take voluntary and involuntary admissions.
Both inpatient and outpatient programs are based on 12-step recovery and focus on your mental, physical and spiritual well-being.
At Behavioral Health Center (BHC) CMC-Mercy Horizons, they treat adults age 18 and older who are suffering from alcohol and/or drug addiction. Patients admitted to this level of care will receive a complete medical evaluation and follow a prescribed detoxification regimen directed by a licensed physician.

Is this treatment center really free?

Most of the listings on this website are free; however, we decided it would also be helpful for our visitors to see sliding scale treatment centers (which are based on your income and you can qualify for free treatment) and low cost rehab centers for low income persons.

Tips on Choosing a Free Rehab Center in Charlotte, NC

  • Make sure the center is accredited. Accreditation means that the center has met certain standards of quality and patient care. You can find accredited rehab centers by visiting the websites of the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) or The Joint Commission (TJC).
  • Check the center's track record. How long has the center been in operation? What is its success rate? You can find this information by reading online reviews or by contacting the center directly.
  • Consider the center's treatment approach. Does the center offer a variety of treatment modalities, or does it focus on one approach? What is the center's philosophy on addiction treatment?
  • Find out what the center's aftercare program is like. Aftercare is essential to long-term recovery. Make sure the center you choose offers a comprehensive aftercare program.
  • Make sure the center is a good fit for you. Consider your individual needs and preferences when choosing a rehab center. For example, if you have a co-occurring mental health disorder, you'll need to find a center that offers dual diagnosis treatment.

Here are some additional tips:

  • Ask about the center's admission process. What documentation do you need to provide? Is there a waiting list?
  • Find out what the center's policies are on insurance and financial assistance. Will the center accept your insurance? Does the center offer financial assistance to patients who need it?
  • Visit the center in person, if possible. This will give you a chance to meet the staff, see the facilities, and get a feel for the center's atmosphere.
  • Talk to people who have been to the center. Ask them about their experiences and whether they would recommend the center to others.
Choosing a rehab center is an important decision. By following these tips, you can find a free rehab center in Charlotte, NC that is right for you.

Yes. Detox at davidson and reading in FL 2was. Rehab was a joke. No reading mtls that were supposed to be provided until after 1 am and only because I complained a lot. Not AA meetings until after 2.5 weeks and only 1 day.

Free Rehab Centers in Nearby Cities

Since many of our rehab centers are sliding scale, we have provided the Federal Poverty Guidelines below. Visit the Carolinas Healthcare System Mercy Horizons website listed above to see what the level is needed for free care based on your income from the sliding fee scale.

Federal Poverty Guidelines for 2024

Persons In Family Household Poverty Guideline Salary per year
1 $15,060
2 $20,440
3 $25,820
4 $31,200
5 $36,580
6 $41,960
7 $47,340
8 $52,720

*Alaska and Hawaii have different rates for HUD federal poverty guidelines.
These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get reduced or free treatment from some substance abuse centers, they use a sliding fee scale based on your income. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.

My husband is addicted to Heroin. He desperately wants to get off. He said he needs help and need a program . He wants help. He do not have insurance. What can you do to help him?

I am typing this information for my younger brother Tyler. He is desperately seeking help at a treatment facility but doesn’t know where to start. He has a good heart but he just needs to get clean. We are all desperate and he finally asked for us to help him find somewhere to go. I don’t know where else to turn to for help for him other than an inpatient facility. I know you probably hear “he’s a good person” all the time but I sincerely believe he can do this with proper help. Thank you so much for taking the time to read through this information and considering him for your program.

I need help. But people say they will but never do

2020-07-30 21:18:04

Right now I am only addicted to cigarettes and alcohol. I really want at least try stopping. I get seizures and I am not sure if that is from alcohol, or from brain and emotional trauma. Thanks in advance for any help.
